Melbourne-based musician Alex Hamilton's fireside feast of heart-warming songs and stories in "Trouble in Paradise" is out this winter. The first single from the 9-track LP is "Beneath the light of the moon", dives deep into thoughts, friendships, relationships and love. As Alex describes: "'Beneath the light of the moon' is about regret. That certain regret and tiredness that comes from making the same mistakes again and again. It's about coming down from the high, waking up lost in a hangover you knew was coming but perhaps had foolishly hoped wouldn't find you. "It's about the moment George Jones looked in that mirror on the dirty old restroom wall and realised that he'd aged twenty years in five. But it's also about forgiveness and accepting that we are who we are and that changing never has been and never will be easy," Alex said. Alex Hamilton grew up behind St Kilda's iconic Espy. A VHS of The Last Waltz may have held his destiny. He loves everyone from Neil to Bob, Joni to Townes and thinks George Jones is the greatest. He's made music with his Melbourne friends including Courtney Barnett, Grace Cummings and the Merri Creek Pickers and when you hear Hamilton's folky-country-rocky songs, visions of suede and whiskey come to mind. The musician has traded in bells and whistles for an honest melody, creating a world where poetic introspection walks hand-in-hand with climactic choruses that demand to be sung. His timeless sound is also unique in its delivery, with influences reaching to the heroes of the '70s and the kings and queens of country. Whether alone or in the company of his band, Hamilton's poetry finds its way to the soul. Trouble in Paradise is Alex Hamilton's second album, following on from the success of his debut Sweetest Wine (Love Police Records & Tapes 2020) which saw the artist break out from regular touring and band sharing to solo artist in his own right. On "Trouble in Paradise" Alex brings in his key collaborators including engineer/producer Jesse Williams (Leah Senior, Grace Cummings) who also plays drums, guitar, piano, organ, percussion and harmony vocals. Guest vocalist Leah Senior and key players Pete Convery (bass), Cahill Kelly (guitar), Kat Mear (violin) come into play, with the whole album master by Casey Hartnett and recorded at Jesse Williams' studio in Anglesea, along the surf coast of Victoria.
