"Compelling, sad and beautiful... (Cass) eschews Nick Drake or Elliot Smith's hushed delivery for the ramshackle, worn beauty of the Velvet Underground by way of Alex Chilton."
THE TIMES
Cass McCombs debut album, A, came out in 2003, opening the world up to a brilliant singer-songwriter from New York via Baltimore and California. Channelling 1970's country folks with moments of lyrical irreverence throughout, A is something of a sleeper hit as lots of people discovering him in recent years have been hitting on it when finding their way through his catalogue. Out of print since release, this album is something of a modern collectable and long overdue a reprint.
